Creating a Daily Schedule for Staying Home
Unusual circumstances such as the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic can change our schedules, and in some cases make the things we normally do more difficult. Maintaining a daily schedule, including keeping consistent sleep habits and meal times, and making time for hobbies, can help elevate your mood.
Staying at home is a great time to focus on more time-consuming hobbies or at-home tasks that you’ve been meaning to work on. Is there a puzzle you want to put together or a call you’ve been meaning to make?
Write down your ideas for new meaningful activities to try each day. You might want to include a general timeframe for when you’ll aim to do each activity: early morning, late morning, afternoon, early evening, late evening or nighttime.
Do you have some time to try a new activity tomorrow? What might it be? Here are some ideas:
-
Cook a special meal, and try one of our kidney-friendly recipes.
-
Pick up the guitar or other musical instrument to play again.
-
Call a family member to catch up.
-
Go for a 10-minute walk in the park, or stretch inside your home.
-
Start reading a new book.
-
Work on that novel you’ve always dreamed of writing.
